Skills Development Groups for Children 2012
BCBM is pleased to advise that we offer a suite of skills development groups for children. These will be learnt in a group setting to reduce a sense of difference and to assist in the integration of new learning through practical experiences with peers. Children will come away with a set of strategies developed according to their individual personality and created using craft, art, games and other engaging and fun activities. Ballarat venue to be advised.
Bobbi is currently not offering any groupsGroup 1: Dealing with Peer Pressure, Bullying and Friendship Making Skills
NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING BUT TAKING NAMES FOR NEXT COURSE
In this dynamic workshop children will spend a session on each of these topics, developing explicit skills in each area. Topics will include what is peer pressure/bullying, how do I react to it and what are some strategies I can use if I experience it.
Group 2: Siblings of Children with Disabilities
NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING BUT TAKING NAMES FOR NEXT COURSE
In this group children will develop vital skills in resilience and coping with the everyday stress of living with a sibling who has a disability. The children will also have an opportunity to relate to other children sharing similar experiences to their own. This is a fun way to become more comfortable and confident in their family life.
Group 3: Social skills for children with Asperger's
NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING BUT TAKING NAMES FOR NEXT COURSE
Children will add to existing skills of joining a group, reciprocal play, reading body language and starting conversations
Group 4: Managing Strong Emotions
NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING BUT TAKING NAMES FOR NEXT COURSE
Tolerating strong emotions and not freaking out and losing the plot is essential for all students. Understanding what emotions are and what they do for us helps us to understand how to be the boss of them and not them the boss of us.
Group 5: Managing Anxiety and Change
NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING BUT TAKING NAMES FOR NEXT COURSE
Children will develop some specific skills to understand and manage anxiety and learn how to direct their “over thinking” in a more helpful way. Children will learn to embrace change and look at school in a really positive way.
Group 6: Skills for Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING BUT TAKING NAMES FOR NEXT COURSE
Children will develop some skills to self monitor and manage impulsivity and begin to look at concepts of the impact of their behaviour on others.
Groups cost $150 which is to be paid at time of enrolment with a first-in-and-paid policy in operation.
Groups are limited to 10 children to maximise individual learning while still providing a meaningful group experience
